Claude for Financial Advisors comes with a 20-seat Enterprise floor

Citywire RIA reports that Anthropic's Claude for Financial Advisors requires a 20-seat minimum on its Enterprise plan, a floor that applies even when a firm wants fewer seats.

Citywire RIA reported that advisors must purchase at least 20 seats on an Enterprise-tier license before they can use Claude for Financial Advisors, the firm's bundle of connectors and features. According to the report, the minimum applies even when an RIA would prefer a smaller number of seats. The figures in this article come from Citywire's summary of its report, supplemented by the sources listed below.

Anthropic launched the product on September 14, 2026, as a set of connectors and workflow skills for research, meeting preparation and documentation, according to the company's launch post. The post advises RIAs to choose Enterprise plans, pointing to audit logs as a recordkeeping aid. Anthropic's pricing page lists Enterprise as a per-seat plan billed annually with a 20-seat minimum. Gosearch.ai, a third-party site, says the self-serve version has a 20-seat minimum and the sales-assisted version has a 50-seat minimum. Financial ADVSR could not retrieve the Anthropic help article that Gosearch.ai cites, so that detail rests on the third-party site.

On pricing, InvestmentNews reported that Enterprise costs $20 per seat per month when billed annually, with usage billed at API rates. At that seat price, 20 seats come to $4,800 a year before usage. Kitces' October AdvisorTech roundup described a one-time $4,800 usage credit for firms that signed up by September 30, a deadline that has now passed. Wealth Management reported that Peter Nolan of Anthropic put usage costs at roughly $70 to $120 per user monthly for the advisor product. By one InvestmentNews commentator's estimate, a 10-advisor RIA's usage bill could run $8,400 to $14,400 annually, in addition to seat fees. Justin McKelvey's blog compared a six-person RIA paying for 20 Enterprise seats, about $4,800 a year, with six Team seats at roughly $1,440 a year, before usage. An Anthropic webinar presenter said there is no way to lower the 20-seat floor.

The connectors cover custodians, asset managers and wealth-technology providers, including Schwab, BlackRock, Addepar, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, Vanguard and Zocks, according to Wealth Management. InvestmentNews reported that Wealth.com said users across 2,500 RIAs and broker-dealers, including LPL, Cetera and Osaic, can activate the product. Anthropic says approval is required for critical tasks, and its compliance skill screens client-facing language against the SEC Marketing Rule. Spears Wealth Management Systems reported that Anthropic plans further waves of the plugin and that Nolan said it had been installed more than 60,000 times since launch. Yahoo Finance reported that Anthropic has not said how many firms have signed up.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in San Francisco, according to PitchBook. A Silicon Valley Investment Club profile describes it as a public benefit corporation with Dario Amodei as chief executive. Anthropic confidentially filed a draft S-1 with the SEC on June 1, 2026, as part of IPO preparation, according to Techflow Post, and it is not publicly traded as of October 22, 2026.

Some commentary has pressed on the economics. Advisor Perspectives, in an October 14 piece, raised AI governance and cost questions and noted that the 20-seat minimum excludes API usage and connector fees. Kitces' October roundup said the plugin augments rather than replaces the existing advisor technology stack. What comes next is more product expansion, which Anthropic has said will arrive in further waves, while the company's sign-up figures remain undisclosed.
