What we collect

When you contact us or send a tip

Whatever you put in the form. Tips can be sent without a name or email, and we don’t record your IP address with tip submissions.

When you browse

A sign-in cookie if you have an account, and privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics (pages viewed, referrers, device type) that don’t use advertising cookies or track you across other sites.

How we use it

• To run your account and send the newsletters you choose.
• To respond to messages and investigate tips.
• To understand which coverage readers value, in aggregate.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

Who processes it for us
