How we use other publishers’ work, and how to tell us if we got it wrong.

How we use other publishers’ work

  • The Wire shows a headline, the publisher’s own summary and a link to the original. The full story stays with the publisher.
  • Our articles are written in our own words. When a fact comes from another outlet’s reporting, the story names that outlet and links to it, and the outlet that broke a story is credited in the first paragraphs. Another outlet’s unconfirmed scoop gets only a short brief that credits it in the first sentence.
  • Every draft is checked before publication: word for word against its sources and the original story, and for a headline or passages that follow the original too closely. A draft that fails is rewritten or held for an editor, and the record of those checks is kept with the story.
  • Images are either made for Financial ADVSR or used with permission and credited.

More on how we source and credit stories is in our editorial standards.

If we used your work without proper credit

Email news@financialadvsr.com with the link to our page and the link to your original work. If credit is missing or wrong, we’ll add or correct it, and if a passage is too close to your wording, we’ll rewrite it. You don’t need a formal legal notice for this.

If you’re a publisher and would rather your headlines and summaries didn’t appear on the Wire, tell us at the same address and we’ll remove them.

Copyright notices

To ask us to take something down under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, send a notice to news@financialadvsr.com that includes:

  1. The copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
  2. The address of the page on Financial ADVSR where the material appears.
  3. Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

We review every notice and remove or disable material that infringes. If we remove something you posted or submitted, we’ll let you know, and you may send a counter-notice to the same address.
