TAMPs & model portfolios
Turnkey asset management platforms, model portfolios and the outsourcing of investment management.
Many advisors no longer build every portfolio themselves. Turnkey asset management platforms, known as TAMPs, provide model portfolios, separately managed accounts, trading, rebalancing and reporting in one package, usually for a fee on the assets placed with them.
Asset managers and broker-dealers also distribute model portfolios directly, often at low or no explicit cost, and outsourced chief investment officer services handle investment decisions for firms that want to focus on clients and planning. Outsourcing frees advisor time, but adds a layer of cost and makes due diligence on the provider important.
Financial ADVSR covers the platforms, model providers and deals reshaping how advisors manage money.
