The New York-based RIA has launched a sports and entertainment unit with about $2.9 billion in assets and roughly 20 advisors, led by Frank Marzano, and plans a name, image and likeness program.

Wealthspire, the New York-based registered investment adviser, has launched a dedicated sports and entertainment practice aimed at professional athletes, entertainers and creators, according to reports from InvestmentNews, WealthManagement.com and Wealth Solutions Report.

InvestmentNews reported that Wealthspire Sports & Entertainment starts with about $2.9 billion in assets under management and more than 200 clients, with roughly 20 advisors focused on the segment. Wealth Solutions Report put the figure at about $2.88 billion as of Sept. 1. Wealthspire's announcement describes the firm as overseeing $660 billion in client assets.

Frank Marzano, a CFP, leads the practice as managing director and head of Wealthspire Sports & Entertainment. He is also co-head of Wealthspire Family Office. According to the firm's announcement, Marzano has more than 25 years of experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families, including athletes, entertainers, producers and other creative executives. InvestmentNews reported that he joined Wealthspire in 2023 after selling his firm, GM Advisory Group, to the RIA.

For working advisors, the notable detail is the service menu. InvestmentNews reported that the practice will cover tax and estate planning, trusts, family office accounting, lifestyle and concierge services, and bill pay with or without power of attorney. It will also help clients manage complex contracts, business ventures, real estate and charitable giving, and plan for life after their primary career ends.

InvestmentNews also reported that Wealthspire plans to build a program around name, image and likeness guidance, which could appeal to high school and college athletes. Wealth Solutions Report said clients can also be connected with Ground Control Business Management, an affiliate aimed at investors with complex day-to-day financial needs in entertainment, media, sports and other industries.

The move builds on earlier activity. InvestmentNews reported that Ground Control acquired Wiles + Taylor & Co, a Nashville-based practice serving music industry clients, in February. Wealthspire said in an April 2025 announcement that its sports and entertainment client base included more than 50 professional and amateur athletes.

On ownership, InvestmentNews has reported that Madison Dearborn Partners agreed to re-acquire Wealthspire and its affiliates from Aon for $2.7 billion, and that the sale closed on Oct. 30, 2025, leaving Wealthspire as an independent, private equity-backed RIA. Wealthspire was formed in 2019 when NFP combined Sontag Advisory and Bronfman Rothschild, according to ConnectMoney.

FA Magazine noted that several RIAs are creating practices for athletes and entertainers since the NIL rule took effect five years ago, allowing high school and college athletes to profit from their image and creating a client base of newly wealthy individuals who need financial advice. None of the outlets provided a timeline for the NIL program.
