InvestmentNews reported on November 3, 2026 that Farther has added Kai Conragan and Allan Smith to its product and user experience teams, as the firm puts more emphasis on advisor-first design. The hires were announced by Farther in a Business Wire release with a New York dateline, which syndicated copies date to November 2, 2026.
According to the firm's announcement, Conragan joins as vice president and head of UX, and Smith joins as vice president of product. Both hires will work out of California, where they will drive ongoing improvements to Farther's proprietary Intelligent Wealth Platform.
The release says Conragan previously spent 15 years on UX for Google Search, where his credits include Knowledge Graph, Google News, Gboard and Gemini in Search. It describes Smith as a former Rapid Response Space Program Director at NASA who also served as head of hardware research and development at Facebook, now Meta.
In the release, co-founder and CTO Brad Genser is quoted arguing that tech ought to widen what advisors are able to accomplish instead of substituting for them. That position lines up with the advisor-first focus that InvestmentNews highlighted in its coverage of the hires.
Farther Finance Advisors, LLC is the SEC-registered adviser, with CRD number 302050, according to regulatory records. Its Form ADV Part 2 brochure, dated August 11, 2025, says the firm became registered as an investment adviser in July 2019 and is solely owned by Farther, Inc. The brochure lists its main office at 345 California Street in San Francisco. Radient Analytics shows Taylor Matthews as CEO and reports a discretionary plus non-discretionary AUM of about $16.01 billion and 571 employees, with its last Form ADV filing dated October 7, 2026.
The figures Farther uses in its own materials differ from those regulatory listings. Its April 2026 boilerplate says the firm manages over $15 billion in assets. A May 2026 Series D release said Farther has surpassed $23 billion in recruited assets, a figure the firm describes as internal data that includes assets expected from advisors joining in the coming months. That number is not assets under management.
Farther raised $150 million in Series D funding led by General Atlantic, a round reported in May 2026. In October 2024 the firm closed a $72 million Series C co-led by CapitalG and Viewpoint Ventures, which Farther said lifted its post-money valuation to $542 million. Yespress reports that Farther earns fees on AUM as an RIA and recruits advisors rather than chasing retail clients directly.
Headcount and advisor counts vary across sources. Yespress gives about 620 employees, while the ADV-based listings give 571. Third-party advisor counts for the firm, from Indyfin and FinanceHQ, differ widely and are unverified. The announcement does not give the size of the product and UX teams or a timeline for the platform changes Conragan and Smith will lead.
