InvestmentNews reported on October 29, 2026 that Pacific Sage Partners, an Edmonds, Washington wealth manager, has joined CAPTRUST, adding to the firm's presence in the Pacific Northwest. CAPTRUST announced the deal the same day in a press release, which put Pacific Sage Partners' client assets at about $1.1 billion and its team at eight people.
Pacific Sage Partners is led by founder and CEO Mark Anderson. According to WealthManagement.com, the team also includes William Cantus, the firm's president; financial advisors Colin Gray and James McBarron; and four client service staff. An SEC adviser record cited in the research notes shows Cantus registered with Pacific Sage Partners since January 13, 2022, with earlier stints at Johnson Sterling and Russell Investments.
CAPTRUST said Pacific Sage Partners will adopt the CAPTRUST brand, as the firm has done in previous transactions. Mike Wunderli, managing director and head of M&A at CAPTRUST, described the Edmonds firm as an important addition to the firm's growing Pacific Northwest presence. The announcement also named Carolyn Armitage of Wealth Management Consulting as Pacific Sage Partners' fiduciary advisor and Carr Butterfield, LLP as its legal counsel.
CAPTRUST already has offices in Wenatchee and Bellevue, Washington, and the announcement cites 14 employees, including 10 advisors, without specifying where they work. WealthManagement.com describes CAPTRUST as a Raleigh, North Carolina-based RIA with $1.3 trillion in assets under advisement, a measure that differs from assets under management. FinanceX calls CAPTRUST the largest US registered investment adviser by total client assets, a claim the publication made and that has not been verified as a ranking.
FinanceX also characterized the transaction as a modest, full-service business that reinforces CAPTRUST's Washington operations instead of establishing a new presence in the state. It characterized the transaction as a sub-$2 billion deal by a private-equity-backed consolidator, which is the publication's commentary and not a figure from the parties.
Regulatory filings add context. Pacific Sage Partners is an SEC-registered investment adviser organized as a limited liability company, with its office at 505 5th Avenue South, Suite 104, in Edmonds. Its July 2024 Form ADV Part 2A reports $767,298,042 in assets as of December 31, 2023, of which about $766.7 million is discretionary. The filing names Charles Schwab as qualified custodian and says the firm receives economic benefits from Schwab. Indyfin and Fingale, both aggregators, report no disclosures in the firm's Form ADV.
Third-party aggregators report assets for Pacific Sage Partners that differ from both the announced $1.1 billion and the 2023 filing, with one citing $857.8 million and another $986,251,535, and the dates behind those figures are unclear. The sources do not say when the brand transition will be completed or whether client or advisor arrangements will change. The $1.1 billion figure is the one CAPTRUST announced, and it should be read against the firm's latest filings as they become available.
