LPL Financial has added Prince Financial Services, a Seattle-based team with about $1 billion in client assets, which left Northwestern Mutual for LPL's RIA channel and custodial platform. LPL announced the arrangement on October 14, 2026, saying the firm's partners had joined its broker-dealer, RIA and custodial platforms.
LPL's announcement, as reported by Pulse2, and WealthManagement.com both describe the roughly $1 billion as a combination of advisory, brokerage and retirement plan assets. That is the client money the team oversees, not a price paid for the move.
Founders Julie Prince and Dave Burnett have each been with Northwestern Mutual for about 20 years, according to BrokerCheck as reported by WealthManagement.com and Citywire RIA. WealthManagement.com named Cade Mossman, Conner Gehring and David DeYoung as partners and reported that the team includes a support staff of 10. LPL's announcement, as reported by Pulse2, quotes Chief Growth Officer Marc Cohen saying the firm was honored the team chose LPL.
Mossman told WealthManagement.com the firm spent nearly a year researching potential partners before choosing LPL, and that LPL stood out for its continued investment in technology. Pulse2 reported that the team looked across the independent and broker-dealer landscape and cited LPL's technology, advisor-focused service model and investment in advisor tools. The team serves retirees, business owners, high-net-worth families and technology professionals across the Pacific Northwest, according to WealthManagement.com.
The team is joining a firm of considerable scale. Pulse2 reported that LPL serves more than 32,000 financial advisors and the wealth management practices of about 1,100 financial institutions, with around $2.6 trillion in brokerage and advisory assets and roughly 8 million Americans served. In its second-quarter 2026 results, reported at the end of July, LPL said recruited assets reached $25 billion, up 35% year over year, according to WealthManagement.com. LPL reports third-quarter earnings on October 27.
Prince Financial Services is not the first Northwestern Mutual group to choose LPL's RIA option. In September 2025, LPL announced that Tennant Financial, a Ballston Lake, N.Y., team reporting about $1.3 billion in advisory, brokerage and retirement plan assets, had joined from Northwestern Mutual. WealthManagement.com reports that since LPL's second-quarter results, the firm has added a $1.1 billion team from Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network and two Northwestern Mutual teams with about $1 billion in combined assets.
